Rain Bow Gate in Burnley is an amazing structure and at the forefront of design. The Single-Surface Structure uses advanced digital modelling in its design, and cutting-edge fabrication techniques.
The huge cantilevered arches swoop around the piece and the centre houses glass prisms set into slots cut out of the steel. When the sun shines, rainbows appear all over the floor of the site.
It was built entirely within our studio, on CNC-cut timber jigs, before being dismantled and transported to Burnley, where we re-constructed it on site in Burnley’s new Knowledge Quarter, outside the college.
