Our brief was to produce a sculpture in the form of an over-sized game, designed by Keith Tyson, in oak veneer and solid oak with various other materials – clear resin, aluminium, brass, inlaid wood, etched sign laminate, baize, etc. The style of the work in terms of period details was to be Victorian. The fabrication required a wide range of cabinet-making skills such as veneering, lamination, forming, profiling, machining, jointing, etc. The game was to be packed in a case which was made by MSS and forms part of the work. The game is approximately 500cm x 500cm x 20cm when assembled, and fits into a case 180cm x 100cm x 100cm.
